BROADWAY STAR JEREMY JORDAN TO HEADLINE THEATRE THE UNDER THE STARS LIGHTS UP GALA
A Back to the Future-Themed Gala Celebrating Musical Theatre from the '50s to the '80s and Beyond
HOUSTON – Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) invites guests to step into a DeLorean and travel “Back to the Future” for an exhilarating night of Broadway magic, celebration, and community, headlined by stage and screen sensation Jeremy Jordan. The 2025 Lights Up Gala is set for Friday, Nov. 7, at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston, promising a night filled with nostalgic flair, theatrical time travel, and show-stopping performances.
The Gala is chaired by longtime TUTS supporters and arts advocates April & Wells McGee, whose leadership will help transform the evening into a spectacular journey through the decades, infused with the high-energy fun of Back to the Future: The Musical.
Jeremy Jordan, one of Broadway’s most electrifying performers and a current Tony Award® nominee for his starring role in the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of Floyd Collins, will light up the stage with a headlining performance. Known for his Tony® and Grammy®-nominated portrayal of Jack Kelly in Disney’s Newsies, Jordan has also captivated audiences in Bonnie & Clyde, Waitress, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Great Gatsby. His talents extend to the screen, with standout roles in “Smash,” “Supergirl,” “Hazbin Hotel,” and films like The Last Five Years and American Son. Jordan also fronts the rock band Age of Madness, showcasing his impressive musical range.
“As a performer, few artists capture the heart and thrill of Broadway quite like Jeremy Jordan,” said TUTS Artistic Director Dan Knechtges. “His ability to connect through song and story makes him the perfect headliner for what will be a one-of-a-kind night.”
A Night of Theatrical Time Travel
Inspired by the imaginative world of Back to the Future, this year’s gala will fuse retro flair with futuristic fun — think ‘80s glamour, cinematic wonder, and Broadway sparkle. From the first clink of cocktail glasses to the final standing ovation, guests will journey through the decades with gourmet dining, thrilling live and silent auctions, and immersive design elements that capture the spirit of the beloved film and musical. Expect nods to Hill Valley, clock tower surprises, and plenty of ‘80s flair.
