Bayou Land Conservancy’s Land Lover Gala, “Wild About Conservation,” set for Sunday, Nov. 12 at La Tranquila Ranch in Tomball

WHAT: Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC) presents its annual Land Lover Gala, “Wild About Conservation,” on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at La Tranquila Ranch (9418 FM 2920, Tomball, TX 77375). Benefitting Bayou Land Conservancy’s mission to preserve land along streams for flood control, clean water, and wildlife since 1996, the Land Lover Gala will bring together supporters across greater Houston. Each year, Bayou Land Conservancy gathers co-workers, clients, board members, friends and nature lovers to recognize the hard work of our partners and celebrate the positive community impact of land conservation. That evening, those attending will honor a Conservation Champion, a Trailblazer and others who have supported Bayou Land Conservancy's work. Through the gala, vital funds are raised to help protect our iconic natural landscapes. With the support of individuals, foundations and corporations, BLC now protects more than 14,000 acres at 64 preserves in the Houston region. This year’s keynote speaker is Suzanne Simpson, a Houston-based ecologist working to conserve the iconic natural landscapes of Texas. She is the Land Acquisition Manager for the Galveston Bay Foundation and has spent nearly a decade working for local land trusts (including Bayou Land Conservancy). Suzanne is also an author of “Wild Houston: Explore the Amazing Nature in and around the Bayou City,” a new book which spotlights the extensive natural assets in and around the city. Guests may participate in a silent auction with something for everyone, a raffle, and a wine pull. Wines were donated by various board members.
