State Rep. Briscoe Cain Announces Candidacy for New Cd-9 Congressional Seat

Briscoe Cain Announces CandidacyDEER PARK - State Representative Briscoe Cain (R-HD 128), formally filed to run for the new CD-9 congressional seat created by the passage of Texas’s Big Beautiful Map. Rep. Cain brings a significant portion of his current State House District into the new CD-9 seat, as well as areas he represented in the Texas House prior to 2021 redistricting.

Briscoe Cain has consistently ranked as one of the most conservative members of the Texas House since first being elected in 2017—earning the #1 most conservative rating in four sessions and the #2 rating in the others, including the most recent session in 2025. As former chairman of Texas House Committees on Agriculture & Livestock and Elections, Rep. Cain has led on Republican priorities, such as authoring the election security legislation in 2021 that led to House Democrats fleeing the state in opposition. “I want to run for Congress because CD-9 is MAGA country—home to a tremendous amount of hardworking, humble, and amazing conservative people,” remarked Rep. Cain. “President Trump’s people deserve a fighter who isn’t afraid of the Left or Cancel Culture, and will stand up for them in the United States Congress…I am up for the task.” Cain was a 2020 At-Large Elector for President Trump in Texas and, as a practicing attorney, also aided the legal effort in Pennsylvania on Trump’s behalf after the sham national election. Cain also filed the first state bill in the nation to support construction of President Trump’s border wall and also led the charge in the Texas legislature to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America after Trump’s proclamation. “President Trump is turning our nation back from the abyss and to continue to advance his agenda, he needs unapologetic fighters like me who have his back in Congress,” continued Cain. “I’ve been a strong ally to the President and his agenda as a state legislator and I have proven that I am the most America First Republican in this race.” Rep. Briscoe Cain enters the race with a long list of support from top conservative leaders and organizations. Elected Officials:
