UHD to Host Houston Rockets Youth Basketball Camp with Rockets Legend Matt Bullard
HOUSTON (May 22, 2024) - Looking to keep your 10-to-16-year-old son or daughter entertained this summer? Check out the University of Houston-Downtown's (UHD) collaboration with the Houston Rockets, as UHD will host the Youth Basketball 4 Skills Development Camp June 10 through 14.
This week-long program, held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at UHD's Wellness & Success Center (WSC) at 1000 Naylor St., Houston, TX 77002, offers a unique opportunity for young athletes of all skill levels in the Houston community to develop their abilities under the guidance of former Rocket and NBA champion Matt Bullard. Parents will need to provide their children with lunch each day, as outside food will not be permitted (this includes from both restaurants and delivery services).
The total cost of attendance is $450, which includes:
- Basketball skills training in shooting, dribbling, passing, footwork, and more.
- Athletic training from a Memorial Hermann professional to ensure child safety.
- Workout gear from adidas.
- Camp T-shirt.
- Two tickets to a Rockets home game for the 2024-2025 season.
- Time with Rockets mascot Clutch and a Rockets player or legend.
"We are proud to partner with the Houston Rockets organization to provide a space where children can safely learn skills like teamwork, self-confidence, discipline, and leadership," said Dr. Lisa Joyner, Vice President of Student Success and Student Life. "Parents can drop their kids off at our state-of-the art, award winning facilities knowing that their child will get some exercise, yes, but they will also have a great time."
