Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Celebrates Outstanding Volunteers and Members at Adult Recognition Ceremony

HOUSTON, Texas (May 13, 2024) – Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) honored exceptional adult members at the annual Adult Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Camp Agnes Arnold. The contributions of the adult members honored were evident as GSSJC awarded over 50 recognitions with 11 President’s Awards to outstanding communities. From troop leaders to mentors and administrators, these volunteers exemplify the Girl Scout values of courage, confidence, and character. “Adult Recognition Ceremony is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the adults who make a profound difference in the lives of our Girl Scouts,” said Mary Vitek, CEO of GSSJC. “Their dedication and selflessness inspire us all.” Among the honorees were individuals recognized for exceptional leadership, innovative programming, and commitment to Girl Scouts. Their work helps to create a positive environment where every girl can reach her full potential. “This list represents all the different ways in which different volunteers engage,” said Jo Blackburn, volunteer development coordinator and board member at GSSJC. “Multiply this list by 1,000, and that's how many of our volunteers I'd love to see recognized. This doesn't count the many thousands of national and council awards across the nation, or the awards presented locally by Girl Scout volunteers.” Council Awards
