[caption id="attachment_362138" align="alignright" width="240"] Jacey Jetton[/caption] Following the tragic events in Uvalde, law enforcement officers, school districts, elected officials and community leaders of Fort Bend enacted new policies and trainings to further improve the safety of Fort Bend schools in advance of the new school year. Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan, Representative Jacey Jetton (Texas House District 26), and Representative Ron Reynolds (Texas House District 27), will brief the media on August 2nd, regarding school safety, emergency preparedness, and additional steps taken by the legislature and local law enforcement agencies to continuously improve the safety of Fort Bend schools. “Texas families are preparing to send their kids back to school in the fall and we need to ensure they are aware of the additional steps we have taken to increase the security of our schools,” Jetton said. “Following the shooting at Robb Elementary School, we have revisited the reality that the best policies and funding in the world don’t mean anything if these security policies are not put into practice. I am proud to stand with the law enforcement and education leaders of our community to share the steps we have taken to continue to improve the safety of our schools.” Sheriff Fagan, Rep. Jetton, Rep. Reynolds, and Fort Bend County-area law enforcement and school district leaders will meet the press Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Stafford Municipal School District Leonard Scarcella Administration Building in Stafford, Texas. Speakers will give a general overview about the updated methods used to assess and eliminate active-shooter threats and incidents, and to handle mental health concerns. The legislators and school leaders will provide updates on school safety funding options, school security policies, and incident response procedures.
