Katy-Area Week 4 Football Roundup: Katy Defeats The Woodlands

(Photo by Terry Carter/UDPhotos.com)[/caption] Junior running back Seth Davis rushed for two touchdowns to help lead the Katy Tigers to a 21-14 win over The Woodlands Thursday night at Rhodes Stadium. Davis finished the game with 21 carries for 223 yards. After the Highlanders took an early 7-0 lead, Davis scored the first of his touchdowns on a six-yard run with 6:07 remaining in the first quarter. His second touchdown came on a 49-yard run late in the first half to put the Tigers ahead for good. Senior running back Isaiah Smith caught a 23-yard pass from junior quarterback Caleb Koger in the third quarter to put the Tigers up by 14. The Highlanders' last score came with 6:58 in the game, when Mabrey Mettauer scored on a two-yard run. The Tigers improved to 4-0 with the non-district win. Lake Creek 41, Morton Ranch 40

Lake Creek came from behind to defeat Morton Ranch, which fell to 2-2 Thursday at Legacy Stadium.

Clear Falls 37, Cinco Ranch 21

The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season, falling in a non-district game against the Knights Friday at Clear Creek ISD Stadium.

Davenport 62, Jordan 45

The Warriors fell to 1-3 overall after losing Friday at Davenport High School in San Antonio.

Seven Lakes 28, Heights 6

The Spartans won their second consecutive game, and improved to 3-1 overall, by defeating Heights Friday at Delmar Stadium.

Klein Cain 63, Taylor 28

The Mustangs suffered their third consecutive defeat in a non-district, Parents’ Night game Friday at Rhodes Stadium.

Tompkins 57, Clear Creek 7

The Falcons improved to 4-0 overall with a non-district, Homecoming win Friday at Legacy Stadium.

Paetow 65, Kempner 0

The Panthers improved to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in District 10-5A, with a convincing win Saturday at Legacy Stadium.

Week 5 Matchups

District 19-5A play begins for Cinco Ranch, Katy, Morton Ranch, Seven Lakes, Taylor and Tompkins this week. Mayde Creek, the other District 19-5A member, has its last non-district game. Paetow has a bye week. Jordan, not officially in a sports district in this, its inaugural varsity football season, plays at Lake Belton. Here’s the Week 5 schedule for Katy-area teams.
