Katy ISD Teaming with Amazon to Help Teachers Purchase Classroom Items

By George Slaughter The Katy Independent School District and Amazon have partnered to help teachers purchase classroom items. The district is providing teachers up to $200 each to spend through an Amazon business account for supplies such as color pencils, paper, pens, and small student incentives. This allocation comes in addition to instructional materials and supplies provided through regular campus budgets. “These funds are intended to assist teachers with purchasing those few extra items they would love to have in their classrooms that may further supplement a learning experience they have planned for their students,” Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski said in a statement. “Our educators have always gone above and beyond for our learners, especially during these past 18 months. We hope they will enjoy this opportunity to purchase some additional items for their classrooms.” The district said that its Katy Instructional Teacher Supply Budget is separate from campus budgets and does not affect the district’s overall instructional material and supply budget. Teachers will be able to log into Amazon to select items they want to buy starting next week. The district expects this initiative will help with personal out-of-pocket expenses some teachers incur.
